An Added Layer of Security

CW Call Center is now using advanced voice authentication to make your experience faster, safer, and more convenient. What does this mean for you? During your next call, we may ask to verify your identity by sending a security code to your device or confirming a few details about your account. Once verified, our new system will recognize your voice on future calls—no need to answer security questions or wait for codes every time you contact us.This cutting-edge technology helps protect you from fraud and emerging threats like deepfakes, while ensuring a smooth and secure service experience. And, as always, your privacy matters to us. If you prefer not to use voice authentication, you can opt out at any time by letting a member service representative know or by calling 1-800-729-6808.

Safeguard Your Child's Identity

Child identity theft impacts over 1.25 million kids in the U.S. each year—often going unnoticed for long periods due to a lack of credit activity. Personal details like Social Security numbers and birthdates can be stolen through data breaches, phishing scams, or even by people close to the family. To help protect your child’s future, limit how and where their information is shared, store or shred documents securely, and consider monitoring or freezing their credit.

Three Common Fraudster Tactics

Credibility

Fraudsters are skillful at creating unsolicited text messages, emails or links to websites that appear realistic, don’t be fooled, they can use a legitimate looking email address or phone number to seem real and threaten the security of your accounts, you should never engage with them. Take the few extra seconds and reach out in a separate channel to the person or business who say they are contacting you and confirm for yourself.

Urgency

Fraudsters like to create a sense of urgency or scarcity, so you’ll be less likely to think before you act. Don’t be pressured into action, if you feel pressure, disengage, and reach out in a different way to the person or business contacting you. Remember, even words like, "act now" or "please hurry" are often used by fraudsters to make you feel pressured.

Authority

Scammers often pose as authority figures in an attempt to make demands without being questioned. They might even identify themselves as CW employees or government officials. Never trust someone reaching out to you directly, always call or email them back separately and never provide confidential information unless you have initiated contact within a secure channel.

Three Steps for Protection

Report Suspicious Activity

Don’t be afraid to tell someone if you think you have been scammed. You are not alone. It’s important to tell someone because sometimes the results will not be seen for many months after they hit you. You can contact us directly with any activity that is suspicious from email, text, online banking, or at a branch by accessing our chat or phone services. If you have suspicious activity on your debit or credit card, log into online banking to block your card, report it lost or stolen, or call 1-800-449-7728

Stay Diligent and Private

Check your mail daily. Shred anything with your personal information. Keep social media profiles private. Do not post on social media when you are out of town. Review your credit report often and sign up for credit and card alerts. Never open or reply to suspicious emails and check your account activity regularly. Keeping yourself away from activities that put you at risk will go a long way toward your protection.

How Can You Stay Safe?

There are many ways you can protect yourself and your information. First, be aware that fraudsters are out there and will look for every opportunity to exploit you. Don't respond to people you do not know on social media requesting money, don't answer unsolicited texts, and don't click on unknown links or attachments in an email, via text, or while browsing the internet (even in Google searches). Be aware that fraudsters are ready and able to capture your information and the best defense is to be suspicious and to double check a request with a source through a different channel whenever possible.

How We Keep You Safe

Encryption and Firewalls

Throughout your Mobile or Online Banking session, all interactions are encrypted between your browser and the online banking platform. CW employs some of the strongest internal and external levels of encryption available today. Additionally, all electronic data systems are protected 24 hours a day by a variety of security measures, including firewalls that block unauthorized entry. See our privacy policy for more information on how we secure your information.

Multi-Factor Authentication

Multiple verification methods significantly increases your level of protection online. Not only will your password and user ID be recognized, but your device will be recognized as well. If we don't recognize your device (maybe you've logged in from a public computer or one you haven't used before) you will be prompted to provide a secure access code, which will be sent to you. This step acts as an additional line of defense against unauthorized access to your accounts.

PLEASE NOTE: Be sure to never share this access code with anyone. CW will never ask you for it.

Advanced Fraud Detection

We have employed advanced fraud detection systems to monitor for unusual account activity within our online banking systems to help detect, prevent, and mitigate fraud activity before it can potentially harm you through the combined use of system and human analysis. This could cause you to be prompted for additional security steps to ensure your online transactions are safe or even put a transaction on hold until it has had human review or direct contact from us. We do this to ensure that your money is as safe as it can possibly be.
